I was going to make a starter for my American Pale but found that the only extract I have is wheat. What would that do to me?

Make you feel guilty?
I don't see any BIG issues with the starter.....you're just trying to boost the cell count. They may get slightly used to wheat-based sugars vs. barley-based sugars, but I bet a wheat DME is actually ~60% wheat (and not 100%), so likely no harm.

Agreed. I don't think it will mater, You are going to pour off the liquids anyhow.
Cheers
