Title: Conical Advice
Post by: Dogsboll Ox on July 17, 2018, 03:52:37 PM
Whats the best thing to do with the airlock when you are going to dump trub or yeast through the bottom valve in a conical? How do you avoid drawing in the airlock liquid or air into the fermenter.

Use an "S" type airlock.

Wouldn't that mean air would still get drawn in?

Yes it would, but it would be minimal.

I leave the valve open during primary ferment, the trub drops into collection naturally. when i'm confident my Primary fermentation is complete i just shut the valve and remove the collection container.
