I am new to Brewing and have been doing 1 gallon (Kit) batches to get started.
I have been having good luck so I decided to download a recipe from the cloud.

I selected Everyday IPA, and noticed to was 5 gallon.
** No problem Beer Smith is here!!
I selected "Scale Recipe" and my equipment "1 gallon kit" Profile.

The values changed, but I noticed some values went to zero?
i.e. Rye Malt 0.0 oz.

I assume I missed something...

It's just a calculation and BeerSmith rounds numbers.

It depends on how much was in the original recipe. It also depends on your efficiency. In your case, the original recipe has a mere 4 ounces of Rye and you want to split it more than 5 ways (original recipe is 5.5 gallons). With identical efficiency, the recipe shows 0.7 oz of Rye, which is really just a few grains. With increased efficiency, pretty soon there is not enough for BeerSmith to show a positive amount.

The simple fact is that the greater the difference in batch sizes, the more precision is lost in scaling.
