Gravity target

The recipes posted provide a target OG. Since post mash/pre boil has a lower SG, how do you calculate if your mash was sufficient or whether you need to try to increase the sugars through additional sparging or extract? Wouldn't it make sense to include a target SG for the end of the mash in a recipe? Thanks!
 
Actuallly, you have that.  It's called estimated preboil gravity. 

I brewed up a lager yesterday and the estimated preboil gravity was 1.052.  I measured it before I started the boil and it was dead on.  My SG (after boil) was also dead on at 1.064.

My volumes were all dead on too.  I'm not sure, but I think this may be the first time I've hit everything.  I guess that means that I have my system dialed in pretty close.
