Cooper's Amber liquid malt extract, in the 1.5 kg tin, says 34EBC on the label. It also says they used the standard 10% w/v solution to determine this.
When adding this to the ingredients grain database, what figure should be used in the "EBC" box?
Assuming I need to use units per pound per gallon (as for IBUs) I arrived at a figure of 40.8 EBC for Beersmith. Does this look right? ( 34 x 10 / 2.204 / 3.785 ) I suspect though, that colour is non-linear, unlike IBUs, so perhaps it's not so simple.
(The Cooper's add-on in Beersmith uses 340, which is obviously incorrect. )
