Water Calculation

B

BrewMe

My MLT has a false bottom that covers 1.5 gallons of liquid.  BeerSmith calculates the water I should add to my grist for mashing but I don't see how to get it to automatically add the 1.5 gal based on my equipment.  Is this possible?  AND what about sparge water calculations?

Thanks,

Marc

Marc,
The problem with excluding the 1.5 gal in some way would be that it still adds heat and moisture to the grist mix.  Personally, I would recommend adjusting your water to grain ratio on the mash profiles that you use to add additional water.

Cheers!

So I have to ask...what is the purpose of the deadspace value in the equipment profile?

Marc

Marc,
The deadspace is used to calculate losses going into the next stage.

Cheers!
