Hi There,

I'm new to BeerSmith2. ( Shock and Awe has set in) Its a powerful tool.
I'm having some problem choosing the default Mash Profile to use with a RIMS system.
I've got Sabco Kegs with a Rims Wizard setup. Ive been using the Temperature Mash settings in Mash Profile.
Is this the best choice? It seems odd that there are not RIMS or HERMS default settings in Mash Profile. I must be missing something

Cheers
Brian

It does look like the best option. All the others have infusions.

Herms and RIMS are, by definition, profile mash techniques. BeerSmith doesn't need to know HOW you get heat into the mash, only that you WANT heat (in my case, it's direct steam to the mashtun). You define how long the rise time should be within the temperature step based on your system's performance.  Along with the step time (aka rest or step plateau) BeerSmith should guide you along via the timer, if you use it.

For calculating the additional water needed for the RIMS circuit, use the "Lauter Tun Deadspace" as a proxy but don't adjust for temperature.
