error "another copy of beer smith is already running"

Hello,
I have been having issues with BS2 and can no longer use it. I am running macbook pro OS X 10.9.2. I haven't opened beersmith for couple months and now I get error "another copy of beer smith is already running..." I tried all suggested fixes without luck and just now went so far as to delete all my BS2 folder and files and trashing program (losing all data). I rebooting and installing fresh, after install I rebooted before opening program and still same problem persists.
After new install I see BS2 running on taskbar but cannot access the program and clicking on it produces same message.
Any suggestions?

  This is a fairly rare problem that has been tied to doing an operating system update while BeerSmith is still running on the Mac.

  I recommend the following steps as a first fix:
  - Make sure BeerSmith is not running
  - Go to your Home directory and delete the file "BeerSmith2-USERNAME" if it exists where USERNAME is your user name- this lock file usually causes the problem
  - Reboot your machine

Let me know if this does not work - in most cases I've found this corrects the issue.
