Alaskan Amber clone- light crystal malt
« on: December 05, 2016, 07:13:25 AM »
Setting up an Alaskan Amber clone and see that the BYO recipe calls for light crystal malt.  I cannot find this in Beersmith, do I just use Crystal 40L  specs or is it in there and I just can't see it?

Since the article is very non-specific about the crystal malts being used, I would probably default to Simpson's Light Crystal malt.  Generally, if the malts are listed as 'crystal' malts they are English and if listed as 'caramel' they are US malts.
Recycle your grains, feed them to a goat!

Interesting point about "crystal" vs. "caramel", Oginme. I never knew that. Thanks!!
