timer error

I have a Macbook pro  running on os x 10.6.8 and my timer stopped working. I have played with volumes, etc and the computer is fine- definitely a beersmith issue. Anybody else having this problem? I'm a professional brewer so this timer is exceptionally important to me.

Is the sound not working or has the timer entirely stopped working?  I did have one other person who had the timer sounds stop working after an upgrade of the OS.  I think a reboot helped him.

Also I just did a full upgrade to the latest Mac OS on my machine and then ran the timer, but it played.
