Hello, my name is Flavio, live in Brazil, and I am very new to home brewing.

My question, if anyone can help, is related to the carbonation in the beer botlle. Here in Brazil, we use cane sugar instead of corn sugar.

As I do not want to start my home brewing with an explosion, I would like to know if the amount of cane sugar is the same of corn sugar, as estimated by BeerSmith 2.2. Software.

Thank you for the support - best regards,

A very heated topic if you search around the internet.  Most of the info that I've seen says that if you are going to use cane sugar, than use approx. 80% of what  you would use for corn sugar.  If your beer is a little under carbonated, next time try adding 90%.

There are two ways in BeerSmith to calculate bottling sugar.

If you use the fermentation tab in your recipe, Table Sugar (Cane Sugar) is one of the options.

In the carbonation tool, you only have options for DME and Corn Sugar.
