Hello,

Using Beersmith latest version...
Today I wanted to check some fermenting worth gravity, and as usual, I wanted to use the Refractometer tool...
Now, it happens taht I have weird values as results...
For example, I know my OG, and wrote down the present gravity in Refractometer Reading, but then, the written value transforms into -1,#J...
I then go into Refractometer Calibration, I know it's already calibrated as I tested it with sugar solutions, but then wathever value I write into fields like 'Distilled water reading', 'Refractometer Reading', I always get stck with a '-1,#J' value...
Only value that appears to be good is the 'Hydrometer Reading' as 1,075, a value that of course I set up to the same value as the refractometer on as the 'Refractometer Reading' is an already calibrated value...
So, no way for me to make the Refractometer tool to work, and, I used it regularly till last week, with no problems at all...
It's like the program is not recognizing anymore my units, I tried also with decimal point as separator, but no joy...
What may have happened...?

Thanks

Alex

yikes, bad news... i have no idea as to your solution but was happy that the tool exists elsewehere:

Thanks for the linkm Jtoots...
I found the problem finally, I think I had changed in some way the Refractometer units to RI from Brix, and that action messed up all...
So, apart this, what the RI units stand for...?

thanks

Alex

I think it's "Refractive Index"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refractive_index

if for some reason we ever needed to do this by hand:
