I am due to be getting an electric boiler soon and have seen and am interested in the peco boiler.  Any one got sny reviews or advice on this equipment?  Or should I get one of the many kits from the home brew shops or just get the elements, cords, and bucket and have a go?

It's fairly simple and inexpensive to build your own electric brew kettle. Go to: http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/ for detailed instructions and parts lists for installing the electric water heater element and (if you want one) a spigot.

You do not need to use a chassis punch to cut the hole for the electric water heater element; you can use a hole saw at low speed with plenty of cutting oil. Dress the hole gently with a round file.

You also do not need the control system described by the electric brewery. I use a silicone-controlled rectifier (SCR) to control the current to the element. They're cheap on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MFEA5AE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00

If you are not VERY familiar with electrical wiring, get some help from an expert to wire this project.

My electric brew kettle doubles as the water bath for my HERMS to hold mash temps, with a March pump to circulate the wort through an immersion chiller in the water bath. I control the water bath temp with an STC-1000 and a relay - both cheap on Amazon.
