Hello.

I have a 3 vessel system and i want to scale a recipe in beersmith to give me the maximum batch size that is able to fit in my mash tun taking grain/liquid into account.

Is there an easy method to calculate this?

All three of my vessels can take a maximum of 49 litres of liquid each and i fly sparge.

A normal liquor to grist ratio is 2.5:1 by weight. If my math is correct, that should allow you to top out at 19.6 kg.

That particular ratio isn't a hard and fast rule. If you convert the ratio you use to weight, it should be accurate, though.

I'd want about 30 to 50mm of head space so I'd have room to sparge, so that'll reduce the total grain.
