Im planning a big Imperial Stout and the process I'm following includes a "pre-mash/boil"  Meaning  getting 6G of wort from 17# of pale malt and boiling down to 3G
I'll be using this to add to the boil of the main recipe.
Assuming I will know the SG of this liquid, (aprox 1.100)  what would be the best way to include this in the main BeerSmith recipe
I would think copy and modify an adjunct or LME but volume sort of makes more sense that weight, which is the standard unit of measurement there.
Suggestions ?

You're marrying two batches, so that means two recipes.

The second batch is basically getting an extract addition in the kettle. You'll need to convert that volume into weight to get a value that is equal to what one pound of wort (about 1 pint) dilutes to in 1 gallon.

If the wort is 1.100, then we take the gravity points (100) by 8.33.

100/8.33 = 12 or 1.012. The ingredient profile then is going to show a potential of 1.012.

Now you can add the wort as weight (8.33*3 = 24.99 lbs). This'll get you close, but you'll want to adjust for the weight of the sugar. Specific Gravity is density, but since it's in the same volume you'd use for water, we can use it as a stand in for weight percentage (10%). This means the total weight of wort added is about 27.5 lbs.
