Hello, I just got into brewing all grain.  And I've been following the recipes pretty good my dear is turning out good.  A recipe I have calls for Ginger has a spice at the last 10 minutes. My question is would this be  Dried or fresh ginger?

If the amount is in teaspoons or tablespoons, it is likely dried.  If it is in ounces, it is likely fresh.  If it doesn't give you the actual amount, then it's a guess.

You can always leave it out for now, then make a tincture just before bottling or kegging, take a small sample of beer and add a little bit, taste it, and do this until you figure out just how much you want to add to the entire batch.

You'll definitely get a really fresh ginger flavor this way, and by adding it to taste with the tincture just prior to bottling or kegging, you'll have the level of ginger just where you want it.

Thanks for answering! My first day as a member. This is a delirium tremens clone and I'd like to follow it to a T. (Other ingredients are expensive. It says 2.4 grams ginger, spice 10 min. What would you do? Also if it is fresh, would you do it grated, peeled or unpeeled. Thanks!
