Refractometer adjustment for sugar added after fermentation has begun

Can I use a refractometer to calculate the final gravity on a Belgian Golden Strong?  I know how many gravity points should be added with each pound of sugar, so can I just add that to the OG when using the refractometer tool and thereby calculate FG?  Or do I just need to use a hydrometer?

It would be best to use a hydrometer to establish FG.  A calculator for FG can give you an estimate but the yeast will finish when they are done.  Minor changes in how a beer is brewed will affect the fermentability of the wort.  Give the beer time to finish if you are brewing small batches so hydrometer samples don't use up volume unnecessarily.
