Beersmith 2 not installing

i've had beersmith 2 for many years, and am re-installing it on my new laptop. when i download the installer from the website, and run it, it supposedly installs, however when i click on the shortcut to open the program an error window pops up saying:

ASSERT_E-
[.\BData.cpp:3186 compiled Dec 4 2013]

This is a fatal error. Shutting down beersmith.


i've uninstalled and retried multiple times (straight from the website)..same thing keeps happening
