Anyone brew this recipe from the Complete Joy of Homebrewing?

I would love to brew this now to have for the winter but can only find frozen cherries. Will that work OK with the amount suggested or do I need to adjust the amount for some reason? The recipe in the book calls for 5lbs of sour cherries for a 5 gallon batch.

Also any advise for brewing with cherries/fruit (i.e.. using a secondary/adding something to prevent haze/fermentation time)  is appreciated as I haven't done that yet.
