I'm still a relative home-brew newbie so forgive me if this a dumb question, but I haven't found a clear answer when searching the forum.

Is post mash gravity determined before or after sparging?  I assume it's after, but just want to be sure so I use the correct numbers in Beersmith.

Thanks

Welcome!

Post mash gravity is the gravity of all the runnings from the mash, which includes the sparge runnings.

Pre Boil gravity is the post mash gravity plus any additions of sugars or extracts made before the boil.

Interesting aside. Pre-Boil gravity appears to be before Kettle TopUp. Is this correct?

Hey Brad,

Would it be possible top have an estimation of post mash gravity, BEFORE sparge runnings ?

For me the one you give is "post sparge" gravity.

Cheers,

Andy
