I am brewing a California Common using lager yeast fermenting at ale temperature, do I need a very large yeast starter?

Greetings Lowe - the size of the starter depends on the OG of the wort.  I assume you're using Wyeast 2112 California Lager, or an equivalent, that ferments between 58° and 68°? I used this yeast in a tropical stout about a month ago and while it ferments at "room temperature", it's still a bottom fermenting yeast so I would recommend a starter.  I used BS2 to determine the size of my starter.  But again, the starter size was based on the OG.
