I know this is such a rookie mistake.. because I am one.. but I went into the process of making rum without realizing the whole distillation process first,

So, In return, I can now not make rum... but I'm telling you.. I opened the jar I have with the mix.. and it's definitely producing alcohol, it burnt my nostrils!

So, since I can't make rum can I make a Ale or mead from these ingredients?

. 2 - 3 cups of Water

. Yeast

. 1 cup of mollasses

. 1/2 sugar

. one packet of yeast

You can make alcohol but not ale or mead.  You need malted grain to make ale.  For mead, you need honey.  The alcohol you make from sugar can be unusually sweet.  Fermentation smell pretty nasty too.
