If I am reading this correctly, it seems that Beersmith scales recipes  in a linear manner: a five gallon batch scaled up to n gallons results in each ingredient multiplied by n/5, with no discounts taken for the larger volume.

Is this correct?

  That is basically correct, though BeerSmith can simultaneously correct the OG, IBUs and color when it scales.  In addition if you set a different efficiency number or a different equipment settings, BeerSmith will adjust the recipe to match the new settings.
