Read about this in a mag and it sounds really intriguing.
Got some granite and have a fire pit with lots of mulberry wood to burn. But before I ruin anything, has anyone tried this?

Any brew recipe can be used, though I suspect that a heartier brew would suit the flavor better, such as a Wee Heavy or a porter.

Basically, it is a recipe that uses super hot granite or sandstone as the heating source instead of fire.

The rocks are heated in a fire, or on propane, and then when they get to @ 900 degrees they are put into the wort. This is repeated until the wort begins to boin and then continued throughout the 1 hour boil time.

The rocks get caramelized sugars on them that is disolved back into the wort when it is reintroduced after reheating. That and a wood/smoke flavor can be obtained from the fire (if wood is used)

Thoughts? Experiences? Suggestions?
