For everyone who did the in-app upgrade to full, does it ALWAYS restart?

I installed Beersmith mobile before the first full version was released. When it became an in-app upgrade, I bought it immediately, and I love it.

However, for the longest time when I start the app, it acts like it's going to work, but then I get the screen "Upgrade complete - Restarting to enable new features."  Then I have to click "Ok" and it restarts the app.  It's not the end of the world, but it's seriously annoying.  Does this happen for everyone? It's happened on a rooted Samsung Galaxy S3 with various versions of Cyanogenmod, a rooted Samsung Galaxy S5 with mostly stock OS, and now on my completely stock Pixel.

Is this how the app is designed to work? Any chance we could get an upgrade to stick, at least until the app updates again?

I have exactly this problem.
I posted and have had no response.
App is unusable.
I'm thinking, remove app, reinstall and turn off updates.
