Bottling a Mead

G

gtox

Greetings all, I know this is a homebrew site and I hope someone has experience with the following. I finished my first Mead yesterday, and it's a beautiful torrent of activity this fine day. The question I had is about bottling,,, Has anyone had any experience or energy on using fliptop bottles for a mead, considering the long aging process I wondered if those would be save. I have some fine 1 liter fliptops I was eyeing and wondered what people thought.

I had a bottle of Peach wine in a Fliptop for 5 years (Wedding gift we opened on our anniversary). It tasted great and the gasket looked fine inside the bottle. It was a little dry on the outside but there was no issues with the wine. I don't see why not. I use my flip-tops for beer that is carbonated and every now and then I have one that wont hold the pressure. I replace the gasket and it's good to go.

Cheers

Preston
