Our last two brews using Beersmith 3 and the , we noticed the grain absorption estimate is a full gallon higher than we are experiencing in real life. This is based on a 10 gallon brew.

Historically we were using BIAB and were hitting the grain absorption number almost exactly to the estimate.

Question is: How can we change the grain absorption value while still using the RIMS/HERMS Equipment profile, or should we go back to BIAB and leave it at that.

Thanks  :D

You can adjust the absorption rate under: 'options' > 'advanced'.  There are separate absorption rates for standard all-grain and for BIAB all-grain equipment profiles.  These are universal settings, so making an adjustment to the grain absorption rate affects all your recipes.

Yeah, it isn't right out there.  I would prefer it to be part of the equipment profiles, but not being the designer...
