According to my research:
?1ml of Hopshots (a CO2 Extracted Hop Oil, pre-Isomerizaion), boiled for 60 minutes, will impart 10 IBUs into a 5 gallon batch at 1.050.?
Assuming this is correct, I created a simple recipe on BeerSmith for a 5 gallon batch at 1.050. I added 1ml of Hopshots (now incorporated into BeerSmith 3) as a 60 minute boil. No other hop addition. I was expecting the IBUs to be at 10, but the estimate was only 7.5 IBUs.
In the recipe builder, Hopshots is listed as 65 alpha; 4 Beta.
To get 10 IBUs, I would have to adjust the Alpha to about 95.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
R.
