Is there a setting in BS3 where you can increase the difference between strike water temp and target mash temp?
I do BIAB in a picnic cooler - full volume mash. Today I was targeting for 152F, BS3 said to heat strike water to 156.9F but because I had this issue before I raised it to 160F. Once I quickly mashed in - in a preheated cooler the temp had lowered to 148F.
Thanks, would appreciate any comments.

If the specific heat and weight of your cooler, plus the ambient temperature of the equipment & grain are accurate, BeerSmith does a pretty good job of setting strike temp. Are you certain that the preheat is thorough?

You'll find the mash tun specific heat and weight in the equipment profile.

You'll set the equipment and grain temperatures in the mash tab.
