Hi,

I'm having trouble figuring out water volume and salt additions in BeerSmith 3 and I'm hoping someone can help clarify it for me.

In the Mash tab of this specific recipe the software says to add 21.6L of strike water and 10L of sparge water. I have 3.4L of tun deadspace.

In the Water tab the software says that my total volume of water is 35L. I understand this includes my strike, sparge and top up water.

Where I have some confusion is where the top up should be added and the salt additions.

Do I add the 3.4L to the 21.6L of strike water and add the salts to the mash as shown in the Water Adjustment Salts window of the Water tab?

Or do I add the 3.4L to the 10L of sparge water and add the salts as shown?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!
