New Receipe and Ingredients not showing in pane?

W

waterkc

Hello All,

Hoping some one can tell me what I am doing wrong. I have added recipes in the past with no issue, but now for some reason when I add items to the ingredients list nothing shows up. When I preview my brew sheet its all there, just not when I am in the recipes?

Can anyone help?
I am on Version 1.4 build 037.

I had a similar problem where all the ingredients had strange Icon's. The brew sheet was fine, but the recipe was not. I uninstalled and then reinstalled, and everything was fine.

Cheers
Preston

Hi,

In most cases this is caused by a corrupt "newopts14.opts" file.

By default BeerSmith is in the "C:\Program Files\BeerSmith" directory.

However under Vista you may also have a "Compatibility files" directory that shows up on the toolbar when you go to the BeerSmith directory.  This is where your data and the opts file likely lives.  The full path to the compatibility diectory is:  C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\BeerSmith

where USERNAME is your login name for Vista.

If you delete the newopts14.opts directory there you should be in business.  However if that does not work there is also a patch available here:

  http://beersmith.com/beersmith_patch.zip

Its a zipped version of the executable only, so you need to extract it and put it in your BeerSmith folder (and the compatibility folder) to replace the existing executable.

Let me know if you have continued problems!  So far we've had no one lose any data and I've been able to get everyone back up and running quickly.

Yesterday I had the same problem but today it is ok!

I am having the same problem. I looked for that directory but it's not on my computer (running Vista). I also tried the patch file and that didn't work either. Any other ideas?  ???

Have you tried the default directory (C:\Program Files\BeerSmith\newopts14.opts)?

Also if you go to the BeerSmith directory using file explorer, very often a compatability directory icon will show up on the toolbar that you can click to take you into the compatibility directory.
