Well I guess you gotta do every screw-up at least once -- We bottled our Fat Tire clone this evening. Supposed to have done on Sunday but everything got jacked out of shape between the super bowl and getting news a friend had died of a heart attack (at 58). So we were a little scattered .... as we are transferring the brew from the secondary back to a primary bucket I realize that the bucket got a good cleaning with PBW --- but I did not spray any star san in it. Crap.

Well at least I covered the bucket with a clean lid after wash and rinse --- Portland OR is noted to have very good water - slight chlorination.

I gotta make some check lists or something.  Ok ... who's done this before ???

I'll put some loose hops over the bottles as a protector against foul things

Sorry to hear about your friend. There is a difference between Clean and Sanitized. Luckily, the yeast had already done its job so you should be fine. Not much can live in the beer after fermentation.

Cheers

I am sorry to hear of the passing of your friend.  My best friend died in a December house fire.  I especially think of John when my PC is acting up and I need, "tech" help.  He was always willing to advise me and set things up for me.

Sorry to hear that S3, My grandpa passed quietly last week.  I am always going to be sorry I didn't spend more time.  But I felt honored to be a pawlbearer.  I had a chance to reconnect with family. Grandpa not only survived Normandy, Battle of the buldge, but won 2 purple hearts, a bronze star, and a french bronze cross with 5 of their bronze stars.  We had a military service which was awesome and reminds me of giving to others.

On a lighter note-I reviewed my brew journal and I need to bottle!

I thank you all for your kind comments -- when these things happen its a reminder that no one gets out of here alive. So you'd best enjoy the ride and do the things you enjoy.

Preston - thanks for the comment --- I guess that alcohol will discourage most little critters !
