PORTER TO MILKSTOUT

did this one last fall and am still enjoying it. This is a 2 batch process.

First batch is the 3 gallon porter to make a yeast cake.

2nd batch is a Imperial Milk Stout, which is poured on the Porter yeast cake.

The result is a great couple of beers to enjoy, although, you may be disappointed that you only made 3 gallons of the Porter

I use this method a lot and it works great especially when the second beer is a high gravity monster. My first beer however is always my standard 5 gallon batch.
If you?re stressing over homebrewing, you?re doing something wrong.

Kevin, try to go back to a lighter pale ale after your imperial. I was astounded at how well it turned out, better than a regular pale build. You get a hint of the dark beer flavor without the flavor getting in the way of a good pale.
