My desktop PC died. I had Beersmith 3 installed on an external hard drive. I also had a copy of Beersmith 3 on my laptop for portability.

Can I delete the BS3 directory on the external HD without harming the laptop copy?

I don't see any reason why not. An external hard drive is functionally just an oversized thumb drive. Just make sure you have all of the latest data on your laptop.

That's what I thought but sometimes you just want outside confirmation.

When in doubt, zip it first then delete.  Also, run full backup on the laptop to a zip via the file menu. Now you have two backups in case anything goes awry. Save the full backup on the external drive just in case your laptop suffers the same fate as your desktop.
