Nugget hops Recipe

S

Scimitar42

Pretty much new to home brewing.  But i have a nice batch of Nugget hops i just gathered from my back yard trellis.

Does anyone know of a good, simpler, recipe using these?  I'd also be interested in if anyone knows one thats not an IPA, which seems to be less likely.

First of all let me say Welcome to the Forum.

Because you have it on hand, just substitute the Nugget for any "bittering hops" you currently or are going to brew with. Make sure you adjust the amount used because Nugget has high Alpha Acid content. When substituting hops I use the Bitterness Ratio (BR) to give me an idea if I'm close to the original. If you start with .355 BR using Hallertauer and substitute in the Nugget, reduce the amount used until you get the same/close BR.

I don't know if I would not substitute the Nugget hops for an aroma or flavoring hops addition. 24-30% Co-Humulone, of an average 13 IBU is allot for an aroma or flavoring addition IMO.

This is from the Hopunion Databook:
