Burned at the borg
« on: October 02, 2009, 04:31:53 PM »
I'd not purchased a stainless steel braid encased  line for an appliance  in a  long while.
I picked one up at the borg today thinking to make a Mash Tun filter.

It looked like SST but when I got it apart (yah I cut it up)  I found that the SST braid was some polymer made to fool the eye.

I don't know what the polymer is or what compounds were used to color it so, I don't know if I can trust it as a filter.

Beware: Make sure your so called SST braided hose  is really sheathed in a SST braid and not some  impostor.
It'll be hard to get them to take it back after you  cut the ends off and yank the inner tubing out.

Amen brother. I think the bad ones say "man made polymer" they also run through your smoother than stainless.  Just double check!
Good Recipe, Good Ingredients, Good Procedure, Good Sanitation = Good Brew.
