First, thanks for making such a great product.  I was a longtime user of another program and found the user interface design of BeerSmith to be vastly superior and I immediately converted all my recipes to BeerSmith.

Water adjustments have become a subject that is near and dear to my heart lately.  One of the tools I have found to be very useful is ezWater.  It is a simple Microsoft Excel workbook, but it is extremely useful.  Let me describe what makes it more useful than the BeerSmith Water adjustment guide.

Starting water profile  -  BeerSmith does this but ezWater allows you to switch between Bicarbonate (HCO3) and Alkalinity (CaCO3) for starting profile
Independent calculations for mash and sparge water - BeerSmith only gives you one volume to work with.  A single volume makes sense for everything BUT Calcium Carbonate which cannot be dissolved in water and must be added to the grist
Recommended range for all ions - BeerSmith currently doesn't tell you if you've strayed from the 50-150ppm for Ca or any of the other ion additions.
Recommended RA for a specific SRM - This could actually be better by allowing the user to enter a target SRM and helping them acheive this value.
Chloride to Sulfate Ratio - This could be better as well allowing the user to target a specific style

I could help designing this as well.  I am a .NET developer with a keen eye for UI design.  Let me know if I can help.

Thanks,
Mel Silva

Actually what I'd love to see integrated directly into BeerSmith is a combination of John Palmer's water chemistry spreadsheet (http://www.howtobrew.com/section3/Palmers_Mash_RA_ver2d.xls) and the water chemistry calculator/optimizer spreadsheet (http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f84/mash-water-chemistry-calculator-feedback-wanted-34990/).  I've actually already linked these two spreadsheets together for my own use so that I only have to enter source and target water chemistry, mash volume and dilution, etc., into one and everything else is fed into the other, but having this functionality incorporated into BeerSmith would be fantastic!  Just a thought...
