I am going to brew my first full volume extract batch this weekend and was wonder if the recipe looks OK. It's an American IPA

5 gallon batch
6 gallon boil volume
est. org. gravity 1.059
color 12.8 SRM
58.7 IBUs
est. ABV 6.00

6.60 lbs light liquid extract
1 lbs dry extract
1 lbs crystal malt 80L

1 oz. centennial (60 min)
1 oz. cascade (30 min)
1 oz. cascade (15 min)
1 tsp Irish moss (10 min)
1 oz Cascade (dry hop in secondary)

White Labs California Ale #WLP001

Thanks for your input...

I'd use more hops. I'd use the centennial throughout not just for bittering.
I'd introduce pearl and cascade early not centennial
I'd introduce something like Sazz  or Styrian when I Muck the Glim.
But that's just me.

I've found that so long as there's malt and hops in the beer it's probably going to  be good.

Your recipe sounds solid. IMO Cascade is fine. the Centennial and Cascade go well together.

Brew it, how bad can it be, its Beer! d:

Cheers

Depends on your preferences, but the 30 and 15 minute Cascade may impart more flavor than aroma, so if you want more aroma you could add a flameout or under 5 minute addition.

Since you're soaking the crystal anyway, if you have any base malts you could soak as well, you'd gain some fresh malt flavor.  30 minutes, between 150 and 155F, essentially a low-tech partial mash, but really helps with the malt flavor and aroma over 100% extracts.
