Does anyone know of a fermentation bucket that doesn't use a snap on lid like the standard ones sold in beginners kits?  I want to start harvesting yeast from the krausen but I abandoned plastic buckets a while ago for carboys.  This was mainly do to the troubles I had getting the damn lids off the buckets.

I don't know of any buckets that would fit the bill, but I've been using a MiniBrew Conical Fermenter that will allow you to
dump yeast from the bottom of the conical.
Or you could also lift the lid to harvest the yeast from the krausen which might give you a cleaner yeast sample, less trub maybe??

I just bought the below $5 tool to help with that.  I prefer carboys too but wanted to use a bucket for the occasional larger batch or top-cropping yeast.

A bit of  that clear 1 or 2 mil poly tarp and a large rubber band work perfectly for a plastic bucket.

I am not sure if you can get these plastic fermentation cubes smaller then 13 gallons but I belive the lid is screw on.
