I'm entering this recipe: http://www.brewingwithbriess.com/Assets/PDFs_Recipes/Briess_TwoBelgians_JulyAug2010.pdf

and Briess says it is 13(L) Color.
Briess malts are not in Beersmith, so following the info on their website I entered the malts into Beersmith.  However, when I enter the recipe it estimates the color at 27(L).  Not sure what I did wrong in the entry.

Any idea what the difference in color calculations is?

Even using those grains/extracts, Beersmith is calculating the color almost double what Briess says it should be, I'm just trying to figure out why.

I believe they may have made an error in the Briess recipe calculation.  If you want you can confirm this by doing the calculation by hand (it only takes a few minutes).  Calculate the MCUs for your beer and then apply the Morey equation listed here:

Cheers,
Brad

I didn't calculate per se, I brewed it, and came up with a color right on with the beersmith estimation, and nowhere close to what Briess said it would be.
