I have been extract brewing now for a few months and am loving it.  I think I am driving my wife crazy but oh well  :)  So my question is this:

I am about to brew my first all-grain batch.  Everything I have read so far says to use 1.5 - 2 quarts of water per pound of grain for the mash.   My recipe calls for about 10 lbs of grain.  When I put everything into the program it tells me to use 11.8 quarts of water.  This does not seem to be nearly enough.  Also it doesn't seem to change when changing the mash profile.  Any suggestions?

Thanks Much.

Some Equipment or Mash Profile setting is likely amiss.  Post recipe file or take screen shots and post here.

Go into Mash profiles, details and verify the water/grain ratio.

You could also Verify with another mash calculator such as:

I like their can i mash it tool.

BS has most of the tools you need and once you have your equipment dialed you'll be golden.

cheers
