I have a little confusion here. Do i need to use the yeast starter to brew the recipe i am making? My problem is that if i print out the brewing steps, it will call for just one slap pack. whereas if i use the starter tab call for 4 when not using a stir plate.

i am making 5.5 gallons of a Belgium Saisson.

any ideas?

LionDragon,

One slap pack is all you need for your beer. Starters are mostly used for lagers where cold temperatures call for a lot of yeast because of slow reproduction at low temperatures. (The yeast of choice) The slap pack is formulated for a 5 gal. 19 liter batch. If your wort is oxygenated and has nutrients one pack should do you just fine.
