Hey,

I just downloaded the trial for BS 2.0...I like the tool, but when I tried to input my ingredients, I realized there were no fruit purees or whole fruit selections, only extracts. I think this would greatly benefit the tool.

Thanks,

Delaney.

I agree, just downloaded software and have a handful for fruit based ingredients....

Agreed. Would like this for putting together recipes for Melomels. For instance, when adding a certain quantity of cherries or other fruit, what would be their sugar contribution be. Of course this kind of thing can vary considerably from year to year....  Still, I could measure the sugar content of the fruit with my refractometer, enter into beersmith and adjust quantity accordingly....

fruits, and purees, can be added but if you don't know the numbers (some are hard to find) it makes it hard to add them and it still be accurate.

i have searched the web for specifics on vintners harvest purees and have found guesses and ranges but nothing solid.

i am just going to go ahead and make my fruit lager and then measure gravites and make something that fits closely enough...

This subject comes up every so often. This thread has a way to calculate the gravity accurately: http://www.beersmith.com/forum/index.php/topic,9842.msg40823/topicseen.html#msg40823

The current guideline of whole juice strength is here:

White wine grapes tend to be 21 to 24 brix, and red wine grapes tend to be 23 to 26 brix.
