I am wondering why BIAB Grain Absorb setting is significantly lower by default than Grain Absorption.  Is this because BIAB brewers (I am not one) squeeze the bag whereas you can't squeeze a Mash Tun?  Or is there some other reason?  Thanks for any thoughts.

Pretty much

the BIAB bag will squeeze itself pretty well just due to gravity

Hi,
Yes - I coordinated with a number of the top BIAB brewers from Australia and they agreed that you get lower grain absorption with BIAB due to the squeezing of the bag when you remove it from the pot.  You can't get that kind of compression in a regular mash tun.
