Why, when changing a color (From 3.5 TO 1.1), did the recipe make such DRASTIC alterations?  Example:  the rice went from 3# to 14#, and the malt went from 19 to 37#?  The sad part is I could not revert/change the color again until I went back and rewrote the recipe.

Two questions...

1.  Why?
2.  Is there an easier way to revert back to the original conitions?

Thanks

Hi,
One of the problems with adjusting the color is that it is difficult to determine (by just looking at it) which grains are base malts and which are not.

In cases where it is not obvious, BeerSmith allows you to adjust both.  This is a particular problem when working with light beers - since the difference between one grain color and another might be very small.  Therefore to change the actual color only a small amount it might have to adjust the grain amounts a substantial amount.

Its not perfect, but adjusting the color (particularly for very light beers) is a hard problem.

You should be able to undo changes made since you opened a recipe by using the "Cancel" button.  Alternately you can save the recipe and then use the "Undo" button to undo the latest changes.  Note that UNDO will only work once you have saved the changes.

Cheers!
Brad
