Water volume discrepency

When viewing Beersmith my Mash Volume Needed shows one gallon more than what is shown on the brew sheet. The application shows 5.28 gallons while the brewsheet shows 17.09 qt. (4.27 gal). On a related noted can we choose the unit of measure to be uniform across all parts of the program? Thank you in advance.

"Mash volume needed" is Mash TUN volume needed. It is not the amount of water you use.
If the Mash Tun Volume Needed is not less than the Mash Tun Volume you are going to be in for some trouble.
Even pushing it too close can be a mess.
