I don't have enough refrigerator space to lager my beer, so does it hurt to brew a lager as an ale? What are the ramifications of doing this?

using lager yeast at ale temps produces flavors inconsistent with a lager.  I would use an ale yeast at colder temps (low 60's with a very active starter) before lager yeast at ale temps.  There is the cal common yest that works in both ranges.

It all depends on the beer you want to make.  If you want to make a lager then you need to ferment a lager.

Sounds like you may want to brew a Kolsch style beer. Basically a warm fermented lager. One of my favorites when I want something light. I use pilsner malts and Kolsch yeast packs.
