I was in Tuscany last summer and drank some beers that were made with chestnuts. I was able to propagate the yeast from a bottle when I got home and would like to try a batch of chestnut beer.
Hence, my question: Does anyone know the potential SG for a pound of chestnut chips? Also, can they be mashed with barley, or do they require a different process?
