I'm preparing to brew a rye IPA which has 29.1% rye. (Got bit by the Ruthless bug ...)

I'm also considering BIAB for the first time.

I know that rye gets sticky and that rice hulls will help.

Have any of you brewed IAB with a large proportion of rye? Any advice for success?

Thanks!

I have brewed the famous Denny's Rye  twice using the BIAB method and there was no need for rice hulls - I still have a large unopened packet of hulls as the bag method is a much looser mash, with more water, and so does not suffer from getting stuck.

Adding rice hulls will likely just add to the weight of the bag and the water absorption, without any real benefit.

I brew a 50% roggenbier with wheat on top of that. I line my tun with a large grain back and it's worked like a charm twice.
