Adding more spices to Pumpkin Ale
« on: October 28, 2012, 05:16:34 PM »
I didn't get the amount of spice I was looking for in my Pumpkin Ale.  Can I just mix up a new slurry with vodka and uncap and recap all of the bottles after I re-infuse?
Fermenter 1: Lite American Lager (first lager!)
Fermenter 2: empty
Keg 1: Bell's Two Hearted Ale Clone
Keg 2: Factory Punkin Awesome!

It's never a good idea to "uncap and recap" bottles.  You'll lose some of the carbonation while risking infection. That and no matter how hard you try, you will not add the exact same amount of flavor to each bottle. So assuming that they're still fully carbonated and didn't get an infection, the spice level will be inconsistent.

Better to drink up, adjust the recipe, and try again.
